Girona
In Girona you can explore 2.000 years of history through the streets and monuments, such as the Roman fort Força Vella, dated around I century before Christ, and also modernist and noucentist buildings.
It is worthwhile going for a long walk on the Barri Vell, the historical centre, where there are many touristic attractions, for example the old Carolingian and medieval walls, the Jewish quarter, the Turkish baths or the impressive Gothic Cathedral.
Girona also features four rivers: Ter, Güell, Galligants and Oñar, which gave the city a characteristic structure. On the banks of the river Oñar are located the famous “hanging houses”, with their colourful façades that compose a picturesque and joyful image, very representative of the Mediterranean villages.
